Week 12 Blog

The only thing I can think of that is missing from my research is a different point of view/perspective. Most of my articles and sources have similar perspectives on my topic and I believe if I had at least one or two sources that had a totally different view point it would help me see my topic with a different perspective. Another thing that I have struggled to find are scholarly journal articles. I had to go through and read many journal articles to see if they would help support my argument and to see if they would be useful in my paper. Most of the journal articles that I found I had to get rid of because they were not helpful for my paper.

My research process if going good so far. Looking for articles one step at a time really helped with my research process because if I had printed out many articles at a time I probably would not have took the time to read them properly. Getting one article for my paper at a time helped me focus on that article, read it, and highlight the important/useful information I need. As far as my writing process, I believe it could go better then it is going. I still need to work on organization but hopefully by the final draft I will be able to figure out a way to organize everything properly.

Week 9 Blog

What I discovered from doing the reverse outline assignment is that sometimes you may get carried away with your essay and some paragraphs might not tie in with your thesis. It was hard for me to see this when I looked over my essay, but once I did the reverse outline, and had to explain how my paragraphs tied in with my thesis, I realized that some of them did not. The reverse outline helped me see which paragraphs I have to work on in order for them to support my thesis. Also, the assignment helped me see how unorganized my paragraphs are. What I am taking away from this assignment is that I need to look at my paragraphs individually and see if it fits my essay as a whole. I need to work on organization and making everything flow and support each other.

Week 8 Blog- Second Draft Planning

So far, I believe my paper is shaping up pretty good. I have plenty of useful research and have gained a lot of knowledge on my topic for my paper. I have been spending a lot of time making my essay organized and flow better because when I looked over my first draft, It did not flow when I read it out loud. I believe that I can rearrange my ideas better for my second draft. For my second draft, I am planning on making my ideas more organized and flow better. Also, I hope to make the citations better and learn how to properly format everything in APA style because that is one thing I am struggling with.

Week 6- Researching & Writing

The most difficult thing about managing my research was picking what I was going to use and what I am not. I started out with a lot of sources to use for my paper and I thought I would use them all in one way or another. Although, as I actually sat down to begin writing my paper I realized that I had way too much information. Then, that led me to evaluating my sources and I saw that not all of them were very good sources, so I got rid of a lot of sources. When I got rid of the sources, I started writing my paper. So far, writing my paper is going well but I know that the more I go into writing my paper, eventually I am going to need to do more research because I know a problem will come up.

Week 5 Blog

At this point, I am feeling pretty good about my topic. I have became familiar with my topic and have gained knowledge about it. Even though I have learned a lot about my topic, I feel I can still learn plenty more information. Therefore, I believe it would be pretty difficult to write a good paper based on what I know right now. If I were to write about my topic with what I know now, I would not be able to go in depth with it. A challenge I would face would be not knowing enough about the topic, but I could easily face this challenge by continuing to do research on my topic and gathering the right information.

Blog Post #2- Week 3

While looking and reflecting upon the responses for the autism article, I realized that it was much easier to write the first response rather than the second response. For the first response I did not really have to think about what I was writing. I wrote what I wanted to say, how I felt, and anything that would just come to my mind. For the second response I had to think about what I was going to write before writing it. I believe it was easier because it is easy to say whatever you want and not care about how you sound rather then thinking about what you are about to say. I believe the second response would be heard better because more thought was put into it. Nobody will take into consideration what you are saying if you don't put thought into it. Also, when you put thought into what your saying, it makes more sense and simply sounds better.

Blog #20- Reflect on your progress in our class this semester.

This semester in English 122-102 I wish I had allowed myself to have more time to revise my essays. I believe that if I would have revised my essays with time I could have done better on them. Also, I wish I had studied the grammar more. During GST's I learned about grammar and how to do it correctly, but when it came to the grammar quizzes, I forgot most of it. Although I wish I had done better in certain things, I am still proud of several things I did in this class. I learned a lot in this class about writing and other things I did not know about before. I am proud that I grew as a writer and got an A- on one of my essays.
