I learned from this weeks readings that not only can you get discriminated against because of the color of your skin, but you can also get discriminated against by the way you speak. I have never thought about it in that way but from reading the article I realized that it is true. I made me reflect on some instances where me or my family have gotten discriminated against by the way we speak and our accent. I realized that some people do not do it on purpose and may subconsciously make a judgement purely based on the way you speak. I was really interesting to see the perspective of the author and also to hear some of the personal stories of other classmates.
